Kalaimamani Sri Binesh Mahadevan is a highly recognized performing guru, choreographer, and institution head in the field of Indian classical dance, primarily Bharatanatyam. He received his foundational tutelage in Bharatanatyam under Kalaimamani Smt. Ranganayaki Jayaraman. He also trained in other classical forms from Noopura under the mentorship of Sri K R Kurup and other eminent gurus, which broadened his artistic perspective and devotion to the art. His expertise extends to Kathakali, Mohiniattam, and Kuchipudi. Sri Binesh Mahadevan is celebrated for his choreographic excellence and has extensively toured both within India and internationally, presenting numerous solo and group performances. He is the founder-director of Akshaya Arts Academy in Chennai, established in 1992, an institution dedicated to preserving and propagating Bharatanatyam in its purest form. Through his academy, he has guided 194 disciples to their arangetrams, demonstrating his significant teaching legacy. Beyond his dance instruction, he has served as a creative movement therapist for over seven years at "Mathur Mandir," notably facilitating the successful arangetram of two special children with Down syndrome. He is also actively involved in the dance community, serving as the Secretary of Abhai and a member of Prayathnam.
