Kalamandalam Hemalatha is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, primarily recognized for her expertise in Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, and Kuchipudi. She gained international acclaim for setting a Guinness World Record for the longest dance marathon, performing Mohiniyattam continuously for an astounding 123 hours and 15 minutes in Thrissur, Kerala, from September 20 to 26, 2010. Often referred to as the "dancing queen of Kerala," Hemalatha received rigorous training in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, and Folk dances at the prestigious Kerala Kalamandalam. She furthered her academic pursuits by earning a BFA in Bharatanatyam from Bharathidasan University, Trichy, and a post-graduate degree in the same discipline from Indira Kala Viswa Vidyalaya. With over two decades of experience in classical and folk dance, she has showcased her talent through numerous performances both within India and internationally. Hemalatha is also a professional dancer and a mother of two, who leads her own dance academy in Thrissur.
