Kalamandalam Prasanth is a distinguished Indian classical dancer specializing in Kathakali, born on May 22, 1965, in Thonnalloor, Kottayam District, Kerala. His parents are K.G. Krishnan Nair and C.N. Rajamma. Prasanth's rigorous training in Kathakali commenced in 1976 under the tutelage of Kalamandalam Ramakrishnan, continuing until 1980. He further honed his skills at the prestigious Kerala Kalamandalam from 1980 to 1990, where he successfully completed his Diploma, Post Diploma, and was awarded scholarships. His education was enriched by practicing under eminent Kathakali maestros such as Kalamandalam Gopi, Kalamandalam Vasu Pisharodi, and Kalamandalam Balasubrahmanian. Kalamandalam Prasanth is particularly recognized for his expertise in portraying 'Pacha' (virtuous) and 'Kathi' (villainous) characters in Kathakali performances. Throughout his career, he has graced numerous stages, performing in significant temples including Vaikom, Kaduthuruthy, Ettumanoor, Kalarcode, and Panavanchi. His international appearances include the Delhi Asiad in 1982 and performances in West Germany in 1986, in addition to various cities across India like Bombay, Mysore, and Ooty. In recognition of his contributions to traditional arts, Kalamandalam Prasanth was honored with the Kalasagar Award in 2018.
