Dr. Kalamandalam Rachitha Ravi is a distinguished performer, choreographer, and academician in the Indian classical dance form of Mohiniyattam. She serves as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Dance at Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed to be University for Arts and Culture, a prestigious institution for Indian performing arts. With over 15 years of experience, she is recognized for her profound contributions as both a performer and choreographer. Rachitha Ravi received her foundational training in Mohiniyattam at Kerala Kalamandalam, where she also completed her graduation and post-graduation with first rank. She further pursued her academic endeavors at Sree Sankara University of Sanskrit, Kalady, where she earned her PhD. Her doctoral research focused on "The scientific foundation of Mohiniyattam – A detailed Study with Balaramabharatham," highlighting her deep scholarly engagement with the art form. She is a disciple of the renowned Mohiniyattam exponent, the late Prof. Kalamandalam Leelamma. Joining the faculty of the Mohiniyattam department at Kerala Kalamandalam in 2009, Dr. Rachitha Ravi has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of dancers. She is a versatile artist, having choreographed numerous traditional and innovative pieces, including "Mandodari," "Karnaayanam," "Gandhari Vilapam," and "Parineeta". Her expertise extends to being a graded Mohiniyattam artist for Doordarshan and a member of the panel for SPIC MACAY, as well as the board of examination for the PG section at Kerala Kalamandalam. She has also been a scholarship recipient for Mohiniyattam from the Department of Human Resource, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Her performances and academic insights have been featured in major festivals, seminars, and workshops across India.
