Kalamandalam Sathyabhama Jr. is a prominent Indian classical dancer, teacher, and choreographer specializing in Mohiniyattam. Born around 1958 (stated as 66 years old in March 2024), she began her dance education at the age of 12 under Kalamandalam Kshemavathy before joining Kerala Kalamandalam in 1974 at age 13. At Kerala Kalamandalam, she trained in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam under the guidance of eminent teachers including Kalamandalam Sathyabhama (senior) and Kalamandalam Padmi. She also expanded her repertoire by training in Kuchipudi under Padmasri Dr. Vempati Chinati and Kathakali under the renowned Kathakali acharya Vimayama. Sathyabhama Jr. has dedicated over 40 years to teaching and has founded the Kalamandalam Sathyabhama Dance Academy in Thiruvananthapuram. She is known for her contributions to dance education, having taught more than 5000 students both within India and internationally. Her students have achieved success in various school and university youth festivals. She has also conducted welfare programs for the empowerment of various branches of dance.
