Kalamandalam Sreedevi Mohanan is a renowned Indian classical dancer, performer, and choreographer, primarily recognized for her contributions to Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam. She completed a five-year course in both Mohiniyattam and Bharatanatyam in 1983, studying under esteemed gurus such as Kalamandalam Sathyabhama, Kalamandalam Padmini, and Kalamandalam Leelamma. She was honored with the Best Student Award from Kerala Kalamandalam in the same year. In 1986, Sreedevi Mohanan founded the Chilanka Dance and Music Academy, an institution dedicated to Indian classical arts. The academy, located in Aranmula, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, offers training and research facilities in various South Indian art forms, including Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam, Kuchippudi, Classical Music, Mridangam, Violin, and Keyboard. The institution is recognized by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy. Throughout her career, Sreedevi Mohanan has performed in numerous National Festivals across India and has choreographed many dance items and special works. Her significant contributions to the field of art as a teacher were acknowledged in 2005 when she received the KALARATHNA AWARD from Kaladarpanam.
