🪔 About
Kalyani Avula is a prominent Kuchipudi dancer and guru, known for her dedication to the art form and her contributions to its propagation in the United States. She began her dance training at an early age and was fortunate to be a disciple of esteemed gurus Sri D.V. Satya Kumar and Padmashree Dr. Shobha Naidu. Her passion for Kuchipudi led her to continuously learn and perform, culminating in hundreds of performances across India and the US. Avula had the honor of performing alongside her guru, Smt. Shobha Naidu, during various events, including a nationwide US tour. Driven by a desire to share her knowledge and experiences, Kalyani Avula established the Abhinaya Kuchipudi Dance Academy in Dallas, Texas, in 2001. The academy has since expanded to multiple locations, including Frisco, Flower Mound, and Southlake, Texas, and has trained hundreds of students. She holds a Masters in Kuchipudi. Avula is also a prolific choreographer and director, having composed and choreographed ballets such as “Sankranthi Sambaralu” and “Siva Ganga,” and directed productions including “Sri Krishna Parijatham,” “Navarasa Natabhamini,” “Sri Krishna Saranam Mama,” and “Vipranarayana”. The Abhinaya Kuchipudi Dance Academy is affiliated with Padmavathi Viswavidyalayam in Tirupati, India, offering certification courses. Awards & Honours: Natya Kaumudi (1994), Natya Visharada (2005).
