🪔 About

Dr. Kamala Reddy Rajupet is a distinguished exponent and teacher of Kuchipudi, an Indian classical dance form. She is a prominent disciple of the legendary Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam (1929-2012), whose efforts significantly elevated Kuchipudi to a national classical dance form. Dr. Rajupet has performed extensively across the USA and internationally, including in the Netherlands, Hungary, and France. She has played lead roles in many of Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam's magnum opus ballets, such as Rukmini in "Rukmini Kalyanam," Parvathi in "Hara Vilasam" and "Srinivasa Kalyanam," and Shakuntala in "Abhignyana Shakuntalam," earning accolades from critics and connoisseurs. In 1991, Dr. Kamala Reddy Rajupet established the Kala Niketan Academy of Indian Classical Dance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she serves as the Artistic Director. Through her academy, she has continued the legacy of her guru by teaching and presenting Kuchipudi ballets with her students across the USA. Beyond her contributions to dance, Dr. Rajupet is also a practicing endocrinologist. She resides in Pittsburgh with her husband, Dr. Gopinath Rajupet, and their three children.
