Kavya Ganesh is a multi-faceted artist, Bharatanatyam dancer, theatre maker, and actor, known for her commitment to the traditions of Bharatanatyam while simultaneously expanding its structural boundaries and narratives. She trains under the esteemed leading dance artist Rama Vaidyanathan and has collaborated with notable figures in the dance field, including contemporary choreographer Akram Khan Company and Bharatanatyam visionary Mythili Prakash. Ganesh completed her Bachelor's degree in Literature and Performing Arts at Ashoka University and furthered her training in the 'Conservatory for Actors' drama program at Yale University in the summer of 2022. Her artistic journey includes performances across India, the USA, and Europe, with notable appearances at venues such as the HCL series at the Music Academy Madras, NMACC Mumbai, NCPA Mumbai's Mudra festival, Esplanade Singapore, Erasing Borders NYC, and SWEAT festival Hong Kong. Kavya Ganesh is the founder and artistic director of the Kavya Ganesh Company (KGC), a contemporary performing arts company dedicated to creating novel performance experiences rooted in Bharatanatyam, aiming to expand the dance form's global reach. She also founded Shambhavi Soirées, an experimental dance initiative. Ganesh has gained recognition for her innovative performance experiences, including "Stand-Up Natyam" and "Dancing to Her own Tune," which bridge classical and contemporary elements. She has also delivered a TEDx Talk titled “Decoding Bharatanatyam: Bringing it Closer to Home.” Awards & Honours: Begin Again grant by the World Dance Alliance.
