Keerthi Sekar is an emerging Bharatanatyam dancer, performer, teacher, and choreographer. She completed her Arangetram, a debut performance in Indian classical dance, in 2018. Her training was under the tutelage of Anupama Mirle, the founder of Nrityarpana School of Performing Arts (NSPA) in Mason, Ohio. Sekar describes her dance journey as a "beautiful journey of self discovery" and a way to connect with her Indian identity and culture. She emphasizes Bharatanatyam's ability to combine Nritta (pure dance) and Abhinaya (expressions) to symbolize various epics in Hinduism and depict stories of everyday people. While pursuing her college education, Sekar remains actively involved in the dance community. She teaches and choreographs pieces for students at NSPA and assists in training other students for their Arangetrams. Her commitment to continuous learning is evident in her efforts to cultivate personal projects, attend workshops in India, and participate in various community programs. Sekar views dance as a creative tool for self-expression, particularly as a South Asian American. She is open to bookings and collaborations for dance projects.
