Kottakkal Kesavan Embrandiri is a distinguished Kathakali performer, born on July 10, 1945. His parents are Thrivikraman Embrandiri and Bhageerathi Antharjanam. After completing his 7th standard, he embarked on his intensive Kathakali training at the renowned P.S.V. Natyasangham in Kottakkal, where he dedicated 12 years to mastering the art form. During his training, he had the privilege of learning under the tutelage of the esteemed guru P.T. Krishnan Kutty Nair. Embrandiri is particularly recognized for his expertise in portraying 'Thadi' characters, a significant category in Kathakali known for its vibrant and often formidable roles. His career as a Kathakali artist has seen him perform extensively across Kerala and various parts of India. His artistic journey has also taken him to international stages, where he has showcased the richness of Kathakali in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, China, and Korea. He is based in Malappuram, India, and continues his association with the P.S.V. Natyasangham, Kottakkal, the institution where he received his foundational training and currently works.
