🪔 About

Krithika Subrahmanian is a multifaceted Indian classical dancer, architect, entrepreneur, hotelier, and author, born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is a classical dancer specializing in the Tanjore style of Bharatanatyam, having received her training under the tutelage of Padmashri Dr. Sudharani Raghupathi. Subrahmanian has performed extensively since 2015 at various prestigious performing arts venues and dance festivals both in India and internationally, including the Delhi International Arts Festival, the London International Dance Festival, NJPAC, and MACH. In 2017, Krithika Subrahmanian founded the Namaargam dance group, through which she has significantly contributed to the contemporary landscape of Bharatanatyam. Her innovative approach to the art form is evident in her productions, such as "NAVA," performed in 2020, which aimed to challenge traditional presentation methods by communicating classicism without verbose explanations. More recently, in December 2023, she presented "Sushupthi - Universe Evolves Bliss," an exploratory dance production that blends Bharatanatyam with other forms like Chau, Kallaripayittu, yogasana, and silambattam to weave a visual tapestry conveying the evolution of Maha Vishnu. Subrahmanian is known for her notable collaborations with prominent artists, including musician Ilaiyaraaja, actor Suhasini Maniratnam, dancer Gopika Varma, and orator Dushyanth Sridhar. Beyond her dance career, she holds a degree in architecture from Anna University, Chennai, and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and Stanford University's SEED program. She is the co-founder and director of Sreshta Leisure, Metafore, and Transform, and the founder of Svatma, a boutique hotel in Tamil Nadu. She has also authored the book "The Next Big Thing Thanjavur" in 2019. Her work extends to curating events, such as "Natyadarshan 2017," presented in collaboration with Kartik Fine Arts.
