Dr. Krittika Mondal is an accomplished figure in Indian classical dance, primarily recognized for her expertise in Odissi. She holds a prominent academic position as an Assistant Professor of Performing Arts and serves as the Coordinator of the School of Performing Arts, as well as the Chellaram School of Yoga and Wellness, at HSNC University in Mumbai, India. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Mondal is a professional Odissi dancer and a singer, actively contributing to the performing arts landscape. Her rigorous academic journey culminated in a Doctoral Degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where her research focused on a unique and critical aspect of traditional dance. Her thesis, titled 'Illegitimate Children: Choreographing Young Bodies in Gotipua,' delves into the historical and sociological dimensions of performance forms, particularly examining the role and representation of young male dancers in the Gotipua tradition, which is closely related to Odissi. This doctoral work highlights her deep engagement with the historical and sociological dimensions of performance forms and her contribution to dance scholarship. Prior to her doctoral studies, she earned a Master's Degree in English Literature from EFLU, Hyderabad, demonstrating a strong interdisciplinary foundation that enriches her understanding and teaching of performing arts.
