Kyoko Nobi is a dedicated Bharatanatyam artist based in Japan, actively involved in promoting Indian classical and contemporary dance for over two decades. She began her journey in Bharatanatyam in 2003, performing in Nagoya under the tutelage of Akemi Sakurai. In 2009, she moved to Fukuoka, where she continued her studies with Miyuki Fukunaga, culminating in her Arangetram (solo debut performance) in December 2014. Currently, she is trained by Yumiko Tanaka. Nobi is the founder of the Contemporary Natyam Company (CNC), a dance troupe and school that teaches South Indian classical Bharatanatyam, as well as Bollywood and Bhangra dance. Since 2022, she also runs the Ganga Indian Dance Studio, further contributing to the promotion of Bharatanatyam in Japan. She serves as a Bharatanatyam and Contemporary Indian Dance Teacher at the Vivekananda Cultural Centre (VCC) of the Embassy of India in Tokyo. Her performances include appearances at events such as Namaste India 2025, the Digital Dance Series presented by the Embassy of India, Tokyo in November 2021, and the India-Japan Global Partnership Summit (IJGPS) Dinner Banquet in 2011. She has also conducted workshops on Indian Classical Dances at the Embassy of India, Tokyo, in April 2015, and presented a message and performance for World Culture Day in May 2020 as a VCC Bharatanatyam Teacher.
