Lakshanya Siddarth is the Founder and Artistic Director of Natya Praana School of Indian Classical Dance, established in 2019. She firmly believes that Bharatanatyam transcends a mere dance form, serving as a powerful medium to instill discipline, dedication, devotion, and cultivate essential skills applicable across all facets of life. Her profound journey in Bharatanatyam began at the tender age of five, under the esteemed guidance of Smt. Shanthy Rajendran, a distinguished Kalakshetra graduate and the Director of Nrithakshetra School of Indian Classical Dance. Lakshanya subsequently continued her rigorous training with Smt. Rathika Mahadeva, a revered disciple of the eminent Natyacharyas The Dhananjayans. Her pursuit of excellence led to further intensive training under Sri P.T Narendran, who is recognized as one of the last direct disciples of Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, the legendary founder of Kalakshetra. Demonstrating her deep commitment, Lakshanya immersed herself in the art form by undertaking studies in the traditional Gurukulam style of schooling at Natyacharyas Sri V.P and Smt. Shantha Dhananjayans' Bharata Kalanjali in Chennai. Her strong cultural foundation was also influenced by her grandfather, the late Sri K Lakshmanan, a renowned educationist, Tamil Scholar, and Author in Sri Lanka. Upon her return to Melbourne, Australia, with the blessings of her gurus, Lakshanya founded Natya Praana. The name "Natya Praana," thoughtfully bestowed by The Dhananjayans, encapsulates her philosophy that dance is the vital life force that sustains existence. Based in Melbourne, Lakshanya employs a distinctive teaching approach, particularly effective with students who possess a cross-cultural identity, enabling her to connect effortlessly and guide them in strengthening their connection to their ancestral roots and rich cultural traditions. She is deeply committed to empowering each student to achieve a deeper understanding of Bharatanatyam, fostering confidence and success in their lives through this beautiful art form.
