Lakshmi Devadass is a dedicated Bharathanatyam dancer whose roots trace back to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, South India. She currently makes her home in Fribourg, Switzerland, where she continues her artistic journey. Her foundational training in Bharathanatyam commenced in the traditional Tanjore Pandannalur style under the tutelage of Guru Ganapathiappan in Coimbatore. Demonstrating a continuous commitment to her art form, she has further honed her skills and deepened her understanding of Bharathanatyam through advanced studies in Chennai, learning from esteemed masters such as Shrimathi Naga Priya, Shri A. Lakshman, and Shri Shanmugasundaram. In addition to her dance training, Lakshmi Devadass has also pursued Carnatic vocal singing, receiving instruction from Shri Radhakrishnan, which complements her classical dance practice. Throughout her career, Lakshmi Devadass has graced stages with numerous solo Bharathanatyam recitals, performing across Switzerland, India, and Japan. Her performances showcase her mastery of traditional, classical Bharathanatyam. Beyond classical presentations, she has also explored contemporary artistic expressions, engaging in fusion performances. Notably, she has collaborated with the prominent Bernese jazz musician Pudi Lehman, demonstrating her versatility and openness to cross-genre artistic endeavors. As an ardent practitioner, Lakshmi Devadass is deeply involved in the art of dance not only as a performer but also as a dedicated teacher. She imparts her knowledge and passion for Bharathanatyam through regular classes conducted in both Bern and Fribourg, Switzerland, fostering the next generation of dancers. Her artistic pursuits extend beyond dance; she possesses considerable experience in theatre, having actively participated with the English-speaking theatre group "Upstage" in Berne and attended a theatre workshop led by Christian Mattis of "Lynx." Furthermore, she incorporates holistic practices into her life, including yoga and kriya yoga, having trained with Shri Janakananda and Shri Sushil Bhattacharia. Lakshmi Devadass is committed to constantly enriching and expanding her Bharathanatyam repertoire.
