Dr. Lakshmi Basavaraju (Pandithar) is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, teacher, choreographer, and researcher primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam. She received her initial training under Guru Smt. Subhadra Prabhu and the acclaimed dancing duo of Sri. Kiran Subramanyam and Smt. Sandhya Kiran. Furthering her artistic journey, Lakshmi became a disciple of Karnataka Kalasri, Guru Smt. Vasanthalakshmi, at the Vishruta School of Arts in Bangalore. Academically accomplished, Dr. Lakshmi Pandithar holds a doctorate from the University of Bangalore, awarded for her thesis on Dance and Sanskrit. Her academic pursuits also include conducting Ph.D. research in Sanskrit. She is also involved in classical vocals, having given several acclaimed concerts. As a performer, Lakshmi Pandithar has graced stages across India and the United Kingdom, captivating audiences with her "attractive stage presence" and "perfect coherence with rhythm." Her performances have been lauded by media outlets, with The New Indian Express describing her dance drama "Gita Govinda" as "visual poetry" in 2010, and The Hindu praising her in 2005. Veena Magazine in London highlighted her "enlightening performance" connecting three ancient forms in 2004. Driven by a passion to promote Indian art and music, Dr. Lakshmi Pandithar founded Nartana Kirtana – The Centre for Divine Arts. Through her academy, she imparts training in Bharatanatyam and various folk dances. The academy is based in Pune, India. She is recognized for dedicating her performances to the almighty.
