Lasya Narasimhachari, also known as Laasya Narasimhachari and Lasya Mavillapalli, is an acclaimed Indian classical dancer, proficient in both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She is the daughter and a prominent disciple of the internationally renowned gurus M.V. Narasimhachari and Vasanthalakshmi Narasimhachari, who were celebrated performers, teachers, and choreographers of both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. Having grown up in a household where dance was central, Lasya has dedicated her life to the art form. She has performed extensively across India and internationally, demonstrating a deep understanding and mastery of traditional classical dance. Lasya is the Founder Director of RASOHAM, an organization she established in 2007. RASOHAM is dedicated to pursuing artistic excellence, promoting, propagating, and preserving the arts, and making them accessible and affordable to everyone, including supporting underprivileged artists. She continues to be closely associated with her parents' institution, Kalasamarpana Foundation, founded in 1969, where she has performed in annual homages and contributed to their productions. Her performances are noted for their thoroughness and her ability to recreate and adapt complex repertoire, such as the Kuchipudi pieces presented as a tribute to her late father. A notable aspect of her repertoire includes the ancient ritualistic dance 'Simhanandini,' where the dancer sketches the figure of a lion with her feet, set to the challenging Simhanandana tala. Beyond her contributions to classical dance, Lasya Narasimhachari is also an International Yoga Alliance certified Master Yoga Teacher (500 hours) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy. She is also a certified Holistic Lifestyle Coach from the CHEK Institute, London. Combining her knowledge of traditional yoga with scientific fitness approaches, she has developed a distinctive technique for holistic healing, rehabilitation, and recovery, and designs specialized yoga courses for various groups, including dancers.
