Lata Bakalkar is a distinguished Indian classical dance figure, renowned for her contributions to Kathak. She is a respected Guru, performer, choreographer, and the head of ADITI Nrityalay, an institution dedicated to Kathak dance. Her academy, ADITI Nrityalay, is affiliated with Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and offers Kathak classes in Dadar and Thane, Mumbai, India. Bakalkar has conceptualized and choreographed numerous dance productions, including "URMILA — a tribute to the silent strength and sacrifices etched in our epics" and "हरिद्र्यम्… वनवास ते रास" (Haridryam… Vanvas Te Raas). She has also led workshops, such as a semi-classical Kathak workshop in Boston, USA, with her senior disciple Riya Naik. Her teaching legacy is evident through her many students who perform and achieve distinctions in Kathak examinations, such as Uma Pusalkar, who completed Visharad with distinction under her guidance. Bakalkar's influence extends to training dancers like Gaurav Bhatti, known for his contemporary perspective on traditional Kathak.
