Lavina Suthenthiran is a Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher based in the UK. She commenced her Bharatanatyam training at the age of six, initially under the guidance of Vijayakumari Iynkaran, with whom she performed her Arangetram in March 2007. Following her debut, Suthenthiran continued her dance education under the tutelage of Pushkala Gopal, and also took classes with Mavin Khoo and Seeta Patel to enhance her performance techniques. She has successfully completed the vocational ISTD exams at Advance 1 level and is currently pursuing her Advance 2 qualification. Throughout her career, Suthenthiran has performed at prestigious venues including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the London Palladium, and Oval Brit. In June 2010, she presented a full-length Margam (repertoire) at the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, an event dedicated to fundraising for the Eye Care Unit of Moolai Hospital in Northern Sri Lanka. As an educator, Lavina Suthenthiran regularly imparts Bharatanatyam lessons at SanskritiUK's Sunday classes, held at St. Barnabas Church in East Ham/Manor Park. She has also taught at the Kerala Cultural Welfare Association in Croydon. Her involvement in the dance community extends to conducting workshops, such as one in Le Havre, France, with the Shiva Nova Dance company, and contributing to various dance projects organized by Akademi. In addition to her dance career, Suthenthiran holds a degree in journalism from City University and has worked as a journalist for outlets like the Evening Standard, Metro online, Confluence, and CNN International in London.
