Lucky Prajna Pratisthita Mohanty, an esteemed Odissi dance exponent, was born in 1986 in Cuttack, Odisha, India. His journey into the world of classical dance began with rigorous training under the tutelage of the legendary Guru Kumkum Mohanty at the renowned Kala Vikash Kendra in Cuttack. He also had the privilege of receiving guidance from Guru Kanduri Charana Behera, further enriching his artistic foundation. Mohanty's dedication to both performance and scholarship is evident in his academic achievements; he holds a Master of Performing Arts in Odissi, graduating as a Gold Medalist from Sambalpur University, and a Master's degree in Human Consciousness and Yogic Science from Utkal University. Throughout his career, Lucky Mohanty has garnered significant recognition for his artistry. He is a distinguished recipient of a Senior Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, acknowledging his talent and commitment to the art form. His performances have earned him an 'A' grade by Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan TV India), a testament to his high standard of presentation. Among his notable accolades is the prestigious Singar Mani award from Sur Singar Samsad, celebrating his contributions to classical music and dance. His captivating performances have graced the stages of numerous esteemed festivals across India, including the Konark Dance Festival, Mukteswar Dance Festival, Khajuraho Dance Festival, as well as events in Mandu, Chidambaram, Thanjavur, Sirpur, and the India International Centre (IIC). Mohanty's artistic reach extends internationally, having showcased his talent in the USA, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Switzerland, and other South American countries, bringing Odissi to global audiences. Beyond his performing career, Lucky Mohanty is a dedicated educator and a torchbearer of the Odissi tradition. He currently serves as an esteemed instructor at Kala Vikash Kendra in Cuttack, Odisha, one of India's oldest and most respected cultural institutions dedicated to preserving and promoting classical arts. Furthermore, he is based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, where he founded and actively leads the Lucky Mohanty Odissi Academy, passionately imparting his extensive knowledge and love for Odissi dance to aspiring students. He frequently performs alongside his dance partner, Purnashree Rout.
