Guru Shakuntala R Prabhath is a highly esteemed Indian classical Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and a prime Natuvanar. With over 45 years of experience in the field, she has significantly contributed to the preservation and promotion of Indian classical dance. Shakuntala R Prabhath received her training in Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of the renowned Guru Smt. Narmada. Beyond Bharatanatyam, she also possesses training in martial arts, folk dances, and yoga, which enriches her artistic versatility. Her extensive career includes numerous national and international performances, where she has served as a cultural ambassador, showcasing Indian heritage in countries such as the USA, UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, and various parts of Europe. As a prolific choreographer, she has directed more than 20 dance dramas and created over 50 classical compositions for both stage and television. Shakuntala R Prabhath is the co-founder of Prabhat Pratishtana, an institution dedicated to propagating Indian arts, which she established alongside Acharya Raghavendra J Prabhat. She also leads "SAMUDYATA" (Srichakra Academy of Music, Dance, Yoga, and Theatre Arts) located at Prabhatha Kala Tapovana in Bangalore South. Through SAMUDYATA, she actively nurtures the next generation of dancers, currently training over 350 students across Bangalore. Her teaching legacy includes mentoring many young artists for Vidhwat examinations, Ranga Praveshas (debut performances), and various performances on prestigious platforms like Doordarshan. Her dedication to classical dance has earned her recognition. Awards & Honours: Shantala Natya Shri Award (2015), SAI Award (2012).
