K.B. Madhusudhanan is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, with a career spanning over two decades as a performer, teacher, and choreographer. His journey in dance began in childhood, leading him to his first Bharatanatyam teacher, Mrs. Malarkodi. He further honed his skills at the prestigious Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts in Chennai, where he completed a five-year part-time course in Bharatanatyam from 1989 to 1995. Following this, he pursued a full-time diploma course in Bharatanatyam at Kalakshetra from 1996 to 1999, marking the official commencement of his professional dance career. Madhusudhanan has performed extensively both in India and internationally. His performances in India include notable dance theatre productions such as 'Gajaanana', 'Adirohana', 'Ooma', 'Nachiyar', and 'Suvvadu', and appearances at prestigious events like the Soorya Festival in Kerala and the Sangeet Natak Akademi's Uday Shankar Festival of Choreography in Kolkata. He has toured various Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Internationally, he has graced stages in London (UK), Cleveland (USA), Singapore, Reunion, Mauritius, Kuwait, Switzerland, Abu Dhabi, New Zealand, Canada, Dubai, Ghana, and Sri Lanka. Beyond performing, Madhusudhanan is also a dedicated educator and choreographer. He has served as a dance teacher at The Calibre in Chennai in 2007 and at Golden Gates Matr. Hr. Sec. School in Salem from 2008 to 2009. He is the director of 'Athma Academy of Dance', a performing group for which he has choreographed numerous classical, contemporary, folk, and cinematic sequences, including dance ballets like 'Thandavam' and 'Panchamuki'. He has also choreographed for various inter-departmental competitions and events. Madhusudhanan has also served as a judge for dance competitions on television (Jaya TV's Thaka Dimi Tha in 2008) and for various colleges and organizations. His interests extend to Indian martial arts like Kalaripayattu and Silambam, and Tamil theatre, where he continues to train and participate in workshops.
