Maki Fukuda is a dedicated practitioner of Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form, having cultivated her art for over three decades. She is a disciple of Guru Chitra Dasarathy Chandrasekhar. Fukuda's performances are noted for her impeccable footwork, sensitive facial expressions, and synchronized body movements, showcasing both the interpretative (abhinaya) and rhythmic (nritta) aspects of Bharatanatyam. Her artistry is characterized by grace and spontaneity, allowing her to convey a range of emotions with depth and richness. A notable performance included a bhajan "Sri Ramachandra Kripalu Bhajamana," a varnam "Nee indha maayam" by Papanasam Sivan in Dhanyasi, a padam "Netru varen endru" by Subbarama Iyer in Pantuvarali, and a thillana in raga Hamir Kalyani composed by Prof. C.V.
