🪔 About

Mamtha Muralidhar Shanbhogue is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Kuchipudi, with a strong foundation in Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Her journey in dance commenced at the age of six in Mumbai, where she initially trained in Kathak under Guru Shri. Rajkumar, a disciple of the Kathak legend Pandit Birju Maharaj. Subsequently, she pursued Bharatanatyam, receiving tutelage from Guru Smt. Shalini Sethuram of Kalakshetra, and later from Guru Vasantha and Guru Subbalaxmi, also associated with Kalakshetra. She performed her Bharatanatyam Arangetram at the age of 16 and successfully completed the Karnataka Board examinations for dance up to Vidwat, while also undertaking a certificate course in Carnatic music. After a period of hiatus, she reignited her passion for dance and began her intensive training in Kuchipudi under Guru Smt. Sudha Sridhar at the Nartana Academy of Performing Arts in Bangalore. As a dedicated Kuchipudi artist, Mamtha Muralidhar Shanbhogue has graced numerous stages across India, performing at prestigious events and venues such as the Hampi Festival, Dassara Festival in Mysore, Rani Abbaka Festival in Mangalore, and various cultural programs in Bangalore including the Akila Karnataka Kuchipudi Nrityotsava and performances at Ravindra Kalashektra. Her performance repertoire also includes appearances at the Padmavathi Brahmotsava in Tirupathi and the Golden Temple in Sripuram, Vellore. She views dance as a profound form of devotion and integrates its disciplinary values into her daily life, extending her knowledge by teaching her daughter, Nidhi Muralidhar, who is also an aspiring Kuchipudi dancer.
