Manjari Sinha is an acclaimed Indian musicologist, classical music and dance critic, and author, recognized for her profound understanding of Indian classical arts. She holds an MA in Sanskrit from Allahabad University and an MA in Music from Vikram University, Ujjain. Her extensive training includes a Sangeet Prabhakar in Hindustani Vocal, Tabla, Sitar, and Kathak dance from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. She further honed her Sitar skills under the tutelage of Guru Pt. Arvind Parikh, a distinguished disciple of Ustad Vilayat Khan. For over four decades, Sinha has been a dedicated chronicler and critic of Indian classical music and dance, contributing regularly to Hindi publications and a Chennai-based English magazine devoted to the performing arts. Her critical writings have built a living archive, documenting the evolution of artists and traditions. She is the author of a book on Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, commissioned and published by Roli Books, and has contributed a chapter on Kathak to 'Indian Dance: The Ultimate Metaphor'. In recognition of her significant and sustained contribution to the performing arts through her writing, Manjari Sinha was honored with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Art Critique (Performing Arts) for the year 2025.
