Meenakshi Srinivasan, born on June 11, 1971, in Chennai, India, is an acclaimed Indian classical dancer, choreographer, and an exponent of the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. Her initial training in Bharatanatyam was under Venkatachalapathy of Kalakshetra, followed by extensive tutelage under the renowned Smt. Alarmel Valli. Srinivasan is considered among the most promising soloists of the younger generation in this traditional style. Throughout her career, Meenakshi Srinivasan has established herself as a distinguished performer, choreographer, and educator. She has graced numerous prestigious stages both nationally and internationally, captivating audiences with her graceful movements, emotive expressions, and profound understanding of the art form. Her performances have been featured at significant venues and festivals including the Madras Music Academy, the Margazhi Festival, Bangalore Habba, the SIFAS Festival in Singapore, the Musee Guimet in Paris, and the Young Masters Festival in London, among others. Critics have lauded her for her energy, inner power, and the "measured brilliance" of her nritta (pure dance), nritya (expressive dance), and natya (drama). Beyond her performing career, Srinivasan is deeply committed to imparting her knowledge and expertise to aspiring dancers through workshops, masterclasses, and lecture-demonstrations, fostering a deeper appreciation for Indian classical dance. She is also a professional architect and runs a boutique architectural practice called Calm Studio in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
