Megha Subramanian is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer and educator with over two decades of experience in the art form. She has performed choreography by several renowned dancers, including Deepak Mazumdar, Dr. Padma Subramanian, Jayasree Nair, Jayasree Rajagopal, Anita Ratnam, and Kalyanasundaram. Subramanian received her training from Smt. Rajee Narayan, under whom she also studied Nattuvangam and Natya Shastra. She holds an MFA in filmmaking from the University of Southern California, which influences her holistic approach to dance, integrating a Western, learner-centric teaching methodology. Based in Toronto, Canada, Megha Subramanian teaches Bharatanatyam to both children and adults through her institution, Abhinayam School of Dance. She has conducted numerous workshops on diverse topics such as Yoga in the practice of dance, understanding dance as a language, and the interpretation of myths and stories in dance, at various institutions including TIDF Toronto, Davisville Public School, Vedic camp, IIIT Hyderabad, and Ruia College, Mumbai. Subramanian is also an author, having published a story coloring book titled "Dance Your Way Out," which introduces the fundamentals of eight Indian classical dance forms. Her academic background includes a PhD thesis on autism spectrum disorder, and she is inspired by the work of Hitham Trust, which utilizes Indian classical art for children with autism.
