🪔 About

Meghana Krishnan is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, recognized for her precise technique and an understated aesthetic that skillfully balances charisma and strength in her performances. Her artistic journey in the classical Indian dance form has been shaped by rigorous training under several esteemed gurus. She is a dedicated student of the renowned dancer-duo Renjith Babu and Vijna Vasudevan. In addition to their guidance, Krishnan has also had the privilege of learning from other illustrious teachers, including Kalaimamani Smt. Jayanthi Subramaniam, who adapted a significant Thodayamangalam composition from the Bhajana Sampradayam for her to perform. Veteran artist Prof. C. V. Chandrashekar also choreographed a notable piece, "Nādanai azhaitu vā, sakhiye," for her, in which she portrayed a nayika expressing the angst of unrequited love. Krishnan has actively pursued a vibrant performance career, showcasing her talent at various esteemed platforms. Her virtual performance in May 2021, presented under the auspices of the Chennai-based Sāraswatham Foundation, garnered attention for its honest and freeing quality, allowing the audience to engage as fellow meaning-makers in the experience. She has also performed at the Vipanchee Festival in 2017 and at the historic Sri Kapaleeshwarar Koil in Chennai in December 2023, where she presented excerpts from the Keerthanam "Ananda Narthana Ganapathim." Further demonstrating her active presence in the classical dance circuit, she is scheduled to perform Bharatanatyam at The Music Academy Madras on April 4, 2024, as part of HCL Concerts. Beyond her captivating performances, Meghana Krishnan is also dedicated to the propagation of Bharatanatyam, offering classes to aspiring dancers. She maintains a strong online presence through her YouTube channel, where she regularly shares her performances, practice sessions, and insights into the nuances of the classical dance form.
