Minu Garu is a distinguished Kathak performer and teacher, primarily associated with the Lucknow Kalka-Bindadin gharana. She is a senior disciple of the renowned Guru Pt. Krishan Mohan Mishra Maharaj, son of the late Pt. Shambhu Maharaj Ji. Her initial Kathak training was received at Shri Ram Bhartiya Kala Kendra under Km. Shikha Khare. She further honed her skills at Kathak Kala Kendra and completed her foundation, Diploma, and post-Diploma courses from Kathak Kendra with first division. Minu Garu holds a Masters in Kathak from Khairagarh University and has completed Visharad and Nipun from Bhatkhande University, Lucknow. She also holds a B.COM degree from Delhi University. Throughout her career, Minu Garu has been a recipient of a scholarship from Kathak Kendra, New Delhi, and a National scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She has been honored with the Rajendradeep Samman from Purvai Sanskriti Kala Kendra. She is recognized as a graded artist by Delhi Doordarshan and is an empaneled artist of ICCR, New Delhi. Minu Garu has performed at various prestigious dance festivals across India and has worked in choreographies of notable Kathak exponents such as Krishan Mohan Mishra Ji, Smt. Gitanjali Lal, Smt. Nandini Singh, Sh. Jai Kishan Maharaj, Sh. Rajendra Kumar Gangani, Kumudini Lakhiya, and Smt. Vaswati Mishra. Her teaching career includes roles as a Kathak Dance Teacher at Tansen Sangeet Mahavidyalaya for two years and as an assistant choreographer at Saraswati Shishu Mandir School in Delhi. Currently, she serves as a Kathak Dance Teacher and Choreographer at Sangeet Bharti and Kathak Nrityalaya, New Delhi. She is also a Varistha Kathak Prashikshak (Senior Kathak Trainer) at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi. Minu Garu is a responsible member of Abhyas, an association for art, culture, and social welfare.
