Mohd Yunus Ismail is a prominent Malaysian Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam. Hailing from Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia, he graduated from ASWARA (National Academy of Arts, Culture and Heritage) in 2010 with a Bachelor of Dance with Honours, majoring in Bharatanatyam, and was recognized as the Best Dance Graduate. He completed his Arangetram in March 2011 under the tutelage of the Temple of Fine Arts. Ismail is a seasoned performer and dedicated choreographer, having showcased his talent in numerous local and international productions across countries such as England, China, Hong Kong, USA, India, Thailand, and Australia. His international engagements include participating in the Kennedy Arts Centre Exchange program in New York and Philadelphia in 2010, dancing in "The Legend: The Journey Begins" with Maya Dance Theatre in Singapore, and working with London's Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company in 2013. He was also selected as part of the Asia Dance Company in Seoul, Korea, in 2012. Locally, he has performed in the Bharatanatyam production "An Adoration of... Ganga" in 2011 and was a featured dancer in "Crossing Borders in Bharatanatyam" in 2017. Currently, Mohd Yunus Ismail serves as a full-time lecturer and the Dean of the Dance Faculty at ASWARA, contributing to the education and development of dance in Malaysia. He has also choreographed works such as "Jarum Berseri" for ASWARA in Tari'19.
