Mohini Joshi Bordawekar is a prominent Indian classical Kathak dancer, teacher, and the founder of Manmohini Indian Dance School in Melbourne, Australia. She received her foundational Kathak training at the esteemed Late Guru Pandita Rohini Bhate's 'Nrityabharati Kathak dance academy' in Pune, India, under the tutelage of Guru Smt Amala Shekhar. Furthering her academic pursuits in dance, Mohini earned a Masters degree in Kathak style from the Centre for Performing Arts, University of Pune. Throughout her early career in India, Mohini performed extensively across the country as part of the Nrityabharati Kathak Dance Academy's troupe. After successfully completing her post-graduation with an 'A' grade, she relocated to Melbourne, Australia. In 2009, Mohini established the Manmohini Indian Dance School, which has since grown to become a premier Kathak institution in Melbourne, boasting eight branches across the city, one in Sydney, and an overseas branch in India, managed by her senior students. Mohini Joshi Bordawekar is recognized for her significant contributions to promoting Indian classical dance in Australia. In October 2016, she was honored with the ARTS EXCELLENCE AWARD by the Hon. Robin Scott, the Multicultural Affairs Minister of Victoria, in recognition of her outstanding work. She and her students actively perform and conduct workshops, spreading awareness and appreciation for Kathak dance within Australia's multicultural community and globally. Her school regularly presents annual concerts, including notable performances like 'Kathak Sandhya' in 2014 and participation in events such as 'Melbourne Meets Modiji' in 2026.
