🪔 About
Mridusmita Das Bora is a celebrated Indian classical dancer, primarily recognized for her profound contributions to Sattriya, one of India's eight classical dance forms. Born in Assam, her artistic journey began at the tender age of five with training in Bharatnatyam. Her path took a significant turn when she embraced Sattriya, a dance form deeply rooted in Assam's cultural heritage. She received her initial training in Sattriya under Bhuban Bora and further specialized in the art form under the tutelage of Guru Ramakrishna Talukdar. Das Bora is lauded for her commitment to preserving and promoting Sattriya, performing on numerous prestigious stages across India and internationally, including Scotland, England, Wales, and China. She has graced various renowned festivals such as Nritya Parva, Nritya Pratibha (organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi), the Brahan Natyanjali Festival, the Khajuraho Dance Festival, and the Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan Indian Classical Dance Fest. Her innovative approach to Sattriya involves blending traditional movements with contemporary themes, adding a fresh perspective while maintaining the dance form's integrity. She has also conducted lecture-demonstrations in the UK to propagate the art form. Her dedication and exceptional talent have earned her significant accolades, including the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi for 2013-2014, a high recognition in the field of arts. She also received the Young Talent Award for Sattriya from the Government of India's Ministry of Culture. Following Sattriya's recognition as a classical dance form, she collaborated with her Guru to release "Sattriya Nritya Sambhar," a pioneering VCD that made the dance form accessible to a wider audience. Awards & Honours: Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (2013), Young Talent Award for Sattriya.
