Mridusmita Dutta is an accomplished Indian classical dancer specializing in Odissi, with a strong foundation in Sattriya dance and Indian folk traditions. Born on August 8, 1994, she holds a B.A. in English from Gauhati University (2016), an M.A. in English from Tezpur University (2018), and an M.A. in Performing Arts from Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Vishwavidyalaya (2020) [3]. Her dedication to dance is evident through her receipt of a National Scholarship in Odissi Dance from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, from 2005 to 2014, and a National Scholarship in Sattriya Dance from 2019 to 2021 [3]. Dutta has garnered significant recognition for her performances and contributions to Odissi. In 2014, she was honored with the 'Odissi Pratibha' award, recognizing her as one of the top ten Odissi dancers globally by Sanskritiki at the Odissi International Festival in Bhubaneswar [1]. She was also bestowed with the "NRUTYA RATNA SAMMAN" on June 12, 2025, by the Guru Pankaj Charan Odissi Research Foundation, Bhubaneswar, for her performance, contribution, and excellent service in promoting, preserving, and popularizing Indian classical Odissi Dance [1]. In 2022, she was recognized as a Graded Performing Artiste of Odissi Dance by Prasar Bharati Doordarshan [3]. Her career includes extensive national and international performances. She has participated in international cultural exchange programs between India and China, where she also conducted workshops [1]. Dutta was selected as the head-member of Inter Dance Project, an international dance company in Austria led by Elias Buttinger, performing widely across Europe to propagate Odissi [1]. She has also performed solo at the International Odissi dance festival organized by the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre [1]. Domestically, she represented Assam in the Republic Day Celebrations Parade in New Delhi in 2019 and at the 44th Fide Chess Olympiad in Chennai in 2022 [3]. Beyond performing, Mridusmita Dutta is also involved in teaching and research. She has conducted workshops on "Dance and its Mental Benefits" at Parijat Academy in Assam in 2019 and served as a Resource Person for an "Orientation of Folk Dance" workshop for a government school under CCRT, Guwahati, Assam, in 2020 [3]. She has also engaged in advanced training, including an Odissi workshop under Guru Ratikant Mohapatra and a Sattriya abhinaya workshop with SeujPriya Goswami [2].
