Mrs. Gayathri Thishanthan is an eminent artist and a popular Bharatanatyam dance teacher based in Switzerland. She is originally from Kalviyankadu, Manippaai, Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Mrs. Thishanthan is the Managing Director and founder of the Baratha Tharshana Dance Academy and the Baratha Tharshana Foundation. The Baratha Tharshana Dance Academy was established in 2004 in Luzern, Switzerland, where its headquarters are located. The academy also operates in Sursee and Zofingen. It is a government-approved organization and registered as a legal dance school by the Government of Switzerland. The academy aims to safeguard and transfer the individuality of Tamil language, arts, culture, and traditional values to future generations of displaced Tamils who have migrated to Switzerland. Teachers and students of the academy perform Bharatanatyam events at various cultural functions and places of worship.
