N. Mukundan, a distinguished Kathakali artist, was born on July 14, 1977. He received his foundational education, including an AHSLC (Art High School Living Certificate) and Pre-Degree, from Kerala Kalamandalam. His intensive Kathakali training also took place at Kerala Kalamandalam, where he earned a Diploma between 1990 and 1996, followed by a Post Diploma from 1996 to 1998. During his studies, Mukundan had the privilege of learning under esteemed gurus such as Kalamandalam Vasu Pisharody, Kalamandalam M.P.S. Namboothiri, Kalamandalam C. Gopalakrishnan, and Kalamandalam Krishna Kumar. He is particularly recognized for his expertise in portraying "Minukku," "Pacha," and "Kathi" characters in Kathakali performances. Mukundan is currently a senior Kathakali guru and performer associated with Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University, and has also delivered Kathakali lectures.
