Nandini K Mehta is an established Indian classical danseuse proficient in Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Her initial training in Bharatanatyam began at the age of six under renowned gurus Srimati Chandrabhaga Devi, Prof. US Krishna Rao, Guru Smt. Narmada, and Guru Smt. Bhanumati. She also received formal training in Carnatic music from her mother, Smt. Manorama Mehta. Driven by her passion for dance, she pursued training in Kathak under Guru Smt. Maya Rao and Smt. Chitra Venugopal of NATYA Institute of Kathak and Choreography (NIKC) Bangalore, where she earned a degree in Choreography in 1987. She further trained in Kathak from Maulik Shah and Ishira Parikh in Ahmedabad. Nandini K Mehta is the founder-director of NADAM (Narthan Academy for Dance and Music), an academy based in Bangalore, India, which she co-founded with K Muralimohan in 1994. NADAM imparts intensive training in Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and classical music to aspiring students from India and abroad. The academy also has its own performing unit specializing in classical and folk forms of India and organizes workshops and lecture demonstrations. NADAM launched its annual classical dance and music festival, Kala-Nadam, in 2000, and a festival exclusively for children under 13, Chinna Kala-Nadam, in 2009. As a performer, Nandini K Mehta has performed extensively in India, the US, France, Switzerland, and the Middle East. She is an A-grade artist of Doordarshan and was a recipient of the central government fellowship in Kathak for the years 2000-2002.
