Nandini Krishna is an accomplished performer and teacher of the Bharatanatyam dance style, based in Mumbai, India. She received her training from illustrious gurus, including the Sri Rajarajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir in Mumbai, and Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan, an doyenne of Abhinaya. For her National Scholarship in Bharata Natyam, awarded by the Department of Culture, Government of India in 1990, she received advanced and core training from Kalaimamani Guru Sri T.K. Mahalingam Pillai. Krishna is an empanelled artiste of The Indian Council For Cultural Relations (ICCR). In 2005, she was deputed by the ICCR for a three-year teaching assignment to Bali, Indonesia, where she also served as the Program Coordinator for the newly opened Indian Cultural Center for a year and a half. She was also selected by the ICCR to represent India at the first International Conference of Bharata Natyam in Malaysia in 2012. Her international engagements include presenting performances, conducting workshops, and teaching assignments in countries such as Indonesia, Canada, Australia, Kenya, Malaysia, Singapore, and Germany. In India, Nandini Krishna has performed at major national centers including the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Mumbai (in 1995 and 2011), the India International Centre in Delhi (1996), the Festival of Dance-Nehru Centre-Mumbai, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi's National Festival of dance in Trivandrum. Her performances have also been telecast by Bombay television. She conceived and executed "Nritya Uphaar - The Gift of Dance," a workshop initiated in 1999 to make classical dance accessible to adults. Academically, she holds Masters degrees in Statistics and English Literature, an Advanced Diploma in Sanskrit, and a Post graduate Diploma in Yogashastra. Her dance has been featured in documentaries, television, and international films, and she conceptualized and presented a television series on Indian classical dance for an Indonesian channel. Krishna has also served as a freelance dance reviewer for leading newspapers and the music and dance magazine, Sruti. In 2015, she received the Senior Fellowship for Bharata Natyam from the Ministry for Culture, Government of India, and her research work has been published on the Government's website on Indian culture. She is currently an Adjunct Faculty at the Maya Somaiya School of Music and Performing Arts.
