The main spirit behind the Academy is Natyacharya Shri Shankar Hombal, disciple of Smt. Rukmini Devi Arundale, of the internationally renowned Kalakshetra, Chennai, where he had extensive training in Bharatanatyam and Kathakali. For the last 50 years, Shri Hombal and his family members, all of whom are experts in the art of Bharatanatyam have fully devoted themselves to nuturing the institution and the art.
