Navya Nair, born Dhanya Veena on October 14, 1985, in Cheppad, Alappuzha district, Kerala, is an accomplished Indian actress and classical dancer. She began her classical dance training at a young age and achieved the Kalathilakam title during her school days at Bethany Balikamadam Girls' High School, Nangiarkulangara, in the District School Youth Festival. Navya Nair is a practitioner of Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form, and has been trained by the esteemed Kalaimamani awardee Priyadarsini Govind. Despite a prominent career in cinema, she has consistently maintained her connection to classical dance, describing it as a return to her roots. She has performed at significant cultural events, including the Nishagandhi Festival in 2014, the 100-day dance festival at Peringottukara Devasthanam in 2024, and the Khajuraho Dance Festival in 2026. In May 2026, she performed her first traditional Bharatanatyam kacheri in Bengaluru. Navya Nair has also ventured into teaching, founding her own dance school named Mathangi (Maathangi). She has choreographed at least one piece, "Maadu Meikum Kanne". Awards & Honours: Kalathilakam.
