Neha Khaitan is an Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam. She began her dance journey in her late twenties, driven by a fascination after witnessing a performance by exponent Hemamalini Arni. Khaitan, who grew up in West Bengal and hails from a Rajasthani family, made a significant life change by moving from the US to Hyderabad to train under Guru Smt. Hemamalini Vijayraghavan Arni. Her guru is a prime disciple of Padmabhushan T. Balasaraswati and Padmasri Vazhuvoor Ramaiah Pillai, training Neha in the Vazhuvoor style for over ten years. Khaitan is recognized for her ability to embody the characters she portrays in her dance, developing a unique style in both Nritta (pure dance) and Abhinaya (expressive dance). She has conceptualized and presented "Anekdotes — Many Stories," a 90-minute performance that blends Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, and folk tales to narrate message-oriented stories. For this show, she undertook several years of research and reading to find the right combination of music, steps, and narratives, choreographing movements and expressions embellished with Indian classical dance elements like mudras and abhinaya. Her performances often feature a live orchestra playing specially composed Carnatic tunes. Neha Khaitan has been honored with titles such as 'Nruthya Mauktika' at the Natya Pravah Festival in Hyderabad (2013), 'Nruthya Jyothi' at Naveen Kalakar in Bhubaneshwar (2013), and 'Nrithya Vilasini' at the Nritha Nrithyathi Dance Festival in Bhilai (2013) for her contributions to Bharatanatyam. She has performed internationally, including a Bharatanatyam recital at the Indian Cultural Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 2017.
