🪔 About

Neha Venkatesh is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer based in Seattle, Washington, USA. She began her journey in Bharatanatyam at the age of four. Her relationship with the dance form significantly transformed in 2019 when she commenced training under Smt. Shweta Prachande, a distinguished disciple of Smt. Priyadarsini Govind. Under Smt. Prachande's mentorship, Venkatesh found a renewed sense of purpose and depth in her practice, solidifying her path as a serious artist. Throughout her career, Venkatesh has performed on major platforms, including Brahma Gana Sabha in Chennai, Kartik Fine Arts, the InterPlay Dance Festival, and Seattle's Natya Utsav. In 2025, she joined the Yavanika tour ensemble for Priyadarsini Govind's U.S. production and presented her solo margam at Natya Utsav. She has also performed internationally, including in Geneva, Switzerland, and London, UK. Venkatesh's artistic philosophy centers on connection—between the artist and audience, and within oneself. She views dance as a medium for self-discovery and aims to invite others into that same experience, regardless of their familiarity with the form. A budding storyteller, she is drawn to character work and narrative building, striving to contextualize classical vocabulary for diverse audiences without compromising its integrity. Her parallel studies in UX design have influenced her sensitivity to audience experience, inspiring her to make classical dance more welcoming while maintaining its rigor. She completed her Arangetram in 2010. Venkatesh has also engaged in teaching, having been part of the Kala Vandana teaching staff in 2010 and conducting workshops. Awards & Honours: YoungArts Award (2022), Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana (1st in Varnam, 3rd in performance) (2023), Best Lead award (2024).
