🪔 About

Nidheesh Kumar is a prominent Indian classical dancer specializing in Bharatanatyam, known for his powerful stage presence and dedication to the art form. His journey in dance began at the tender age of seven in Kerala, where he received his initial training. He continued his studies through his teenage years, though he took a two-year break to concentrate on public examinations. This hiatus, despite causing physical stiffness, only strengthened his resolve to pursue dance as his life's calling. He realized this dream at the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation, a renowned institution for Indian classical arts, where he successfully completed both a diploma and a post-diploma in Bharatanatyam. It was also at Kalakshetra that he met his wife, Indu. As a professional dancer, Nidheesh Kumar has actively worked to carve out his identity in a field often perceived as dominated by women. He is a key member of the all-male ensemble, "Cosmic Trio," performing alongside fellow Bharatanatyam dancers CG Ajeesh and KP Rakesh. Throughout his career, he has been entrusted with significant roles, portraying powerful lead characters such as Vali, Sugriva, Indra, and Ravana in various productions choreographed by the legendary Smt. Rukmini Devi. His performances have consistently garnered high praise for his larger-than-life stage presence and immense dedication. In 2018, he co-presented "Bharathi Shakthi," a Bharatanatyam production celebrating the poetry of Subramania Bharathi, performing alongside Indu Nidheesh, Shweta Prachande, and Pranathi Ramadorai. Beyond his performing career, Nidheesh Kumar has contributed to the institutional landscape of Indian classical dance as a co-founder and director of Indishaa Fine Arts (also referred to as Indisha Trust), an organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of performing arts. He is primarily based in Chennai, India, a major cultural hub for classical Indian dance.
