Nikita Varma is an accomplished Indian classical dancer, primarily in Bharatanatyam, with over 20 years of performance experience. Her passion for dance was ignited by her mother, a former dancer, while growing up in Sydney, Australia. Varma initially trained in Kuchipudi before transitioning to Bharatanatyam, completing her Arangetram in 2016. She has since performed on more than 130 stages across Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney, sharing the stage with various South Indian artists and film stars. In 2018, Nikita Varma founded and began running Noopur Arts Academy, a Bharatanatyam dance school located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, specifically Wollert, Victoria, Australia. The academy's mission is to share her love for Bharatanatyam with the wider community, offering a fun and friendly learning environment for students of all ages and skill levels. Varma's teaching philosophy emphasizes perseverance, discipline, confidence, and creativity, aiming to help students grow both as dancers and individuals. She believes in the power of Bharatanatyam to tell stories, share values, and showcase the vast range of human emotions. The academy provides face-to-face lessons in Bharatanatyam, covering warm-up exercises, basic steps (Adavus), hand gestures (Mudras), and complex choreographies.
