Nishita Joshi is a Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher, and the founder of Kalambara Artspace, hailing from the serene mountains of Uttarakhand, India. She has been practicing Bharatanatyam for over 15 years. Her training began at the age of seven, leading her to pursue six years of full-time professional training at the prestigious Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai. She holds both a Diploma and a Post Graduate Diploma in Bharatanatyam from the Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts, Kalakshetra Foundation. Her academic work includes a final-year dissertation on Dance Pedagogy in Kalakshetra, showcasing her strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the art form. As a distinguished member of the Kalakshetra Repertory Company, Nishita Joshi has performed extensively across India, participating in acclaimed dance dramas such as Choodamani Pradanam, Mahapattabhishekam, Koorma Avataram, Karna Shapatham, and Shanti Sutra. Her performances have graced prestigious venues including the NCPA Mumbai and various platforms in Dehradun. Deeply rooted in the Kalakshetra bani (style), her artistic vision aims to connect younger audiences with India's cultural heritage through authentic classical dance. Nishita Joshi is well-versed in the pedagogy of Kalakshetra-style Bharatanatyam. She has assisted senior gurus at the Kalakshetra Foundation and has conducted workshops and lecture demonstrations in schools and colleges. She founded Kalambara Artspace, primarily established in Dehradun, through which she trains young artists, emphasizing both technical excellence and traditional values. Additionally, she initiated the Bharatanatyam Practice Sessions, a non-profit global movement that brings together over 200 dancers worldwide for structured online practice sessions, fostering a global community of Bharatanatyam dancers.
