🪔 About

Nivedita Badve is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and a dynamic teacher, primarily known for her expertise in Bharatanatyam. Hailing from Maharashtra, India, she began her journey in dance during her childhood, immersing herself in both classical Bharatanatyam and various folk dance forms of her home state, including Lavani, Garba, and Ganghra. Her dedication to the art form led her to pursue it professionally, culminating in a master's degree in dance from the University of Pune. Based in Pune, India, Nivedita Badve is the founder and head of Nadabrahma Nrityalaya, a prominent institution dedicated to Indian classical dance. The academy's long-standing presence is evidenced by its 9th annual program, which took place around 2011, suggesting its establishment around 2003. As a passionate instructor, she imparts her knowledge of Bharatanatyam, along with semi-classical and Bollywood dance styles, to students of all ages. She also extends her teaching to The Shashikumar Shetty's Dance Space in Dhayari, Pune. Beyond her teaching commitments, Nivedita Badve is an active performer and a creative choreographer. Her performances include a Bharatanatyam recital at the 14th concert under the Cultural Tourism Initiative, Mahagami, in December 2018, where she performed alongside Akanksha Joshi. Her artistry has also taken her to international stages, with performances in European cities such as Sofia (around 2023), Haskovo (December 2023), and a Bharatanatyam workshop in Ljubljana (November 2024). Demonstrating a continuous pursuit of artistic growth, Nivedita Badve actively learns other classical dance forms; she studies Kathak under Guru Ravi Shankar Mishra in Varanasi and Odissi at the Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance in Bangalore with Guru Sharmila Mukherjee. Among her documented students is Katya, an international student from Bulgaria, who trains in Bharatanatyam at Nadabrahma Nrityalaya and performs classical dance forms.
