🪔 About

Nivedita Joshi is an accomplished Kathak practitioner, performer, and facilitator, originally hailing from Pune, India. She embarked on her Kathak journey at a young age, receiving training under the esteemed Guru Mulla Jafar Khan of the Banaras gharana. She further honed her skills at Maneesha Nrityalaya in Pune before becoming a dedicated disciple of the renowned Jaipur gharana maestro, Guru Pt. Rajendra Gangani from Delhi. Academically, Nivedita holds a Bachelor of Arts from SNDT University (Pune) and a Visharad in Kathak dance from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya (Miraj). She has also expanded her artistic repertoire with a certification in Mayurbhanj-style Chaau dance from Sreeram Bharati Kala Kendra, Delhi. With over two decades of performing experience, Nivedita has graced prestigious dance festivals in India and internationally, including Singapore, France, Germany, and Switzerland. Her notable performances include "Krishna-Geetam" in Munich, "KIGA" in Basel, and appearances at the Indian Embassy Bern in Switzerland. She has actively collaborated with various art institutions and media platforms in Singapore, such as Bhaskara Arts, Apsara Arts, and the Indian High Commission. Nivedita has extensive teaching experience, having guided students in Indian schools for several years. She served as a full-time dance faculty member at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS), the oldest art school in Singapore, where over 100 students flourished under her Kathak tutelage. She was also instrumental in introducing Kathak to SIFAS' "Vikasa Kids" program for young children. In 2023, Nivedita Joshi founded the Mudra Art Academy in Basel, Switzerland, where she continues to teach Kathak, alongside Bollywood and folk dance styles.
