Olga Chemerys is a dedicated Bharatanatyam dancer and an expert in Hindi language and Indian Culture, based in Bern, Switzerland. Her journey into Indian culture commenced in 2005 when she began studying Hindi and Indian Culture at a university in Kyiv, Ukraine. This academic pursuit sparked her interest in Indian classical dance, leading her to begin her Bharatanatyam training in 2007 under the tutelage of Ganna Smirnova in Kyiv. Driven by her passion, Olga pursued an ICCR scholarship, enabling her to study Bharatanatyam for three years in Delhi, India, under the esteemed guidance of Guru ji Jayalakshmi Eshwar. She resided in India for over five years, deeply immersing herself in the country's rich cultural heritage and continuing to enhance her knowledge of Hindi. Olga has further refined her Bharatanatyam skills through workshops with renowned dancers and mentorship from figures such as Rukmini Vijayakumar and Ramachandran Muralidharan. Under the expert guidance of Ramachandran Muralidharan, she was part of a group that achieved a Guinness World Record for Bharatanatyam in August 2021. She also received first prize for her short film, "Indian Culture: Imprints On My Mind," in an International Filmmaking Competition organized by Routes2Roots NGO and ICCR. Currently, Olga is continuing her Bharatanatyam education by learning Karanas from dance expert Vithya Arasu. She offers Bharatanatyam classes in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, starting January 2026.
