🪔 About

P. Senthil Kumar is an accomplished Indian classical dancer and dedicated teacher specializing in Bharatanatyam. His journey in dance began in a small village in Tamil Nadu, India, where Bharatanatyam originates. Initially drawn to cinematic dance, his passion evolved towards classical forms, leading him to the esteemed Kalakshetra Foundation, Rukmini Devi College of Fine Arts in Chennai, India. There, he underwent rigorous professional training, specializing in Bharatanatyam for four years and earning a Diploma of Fine Arts. During his time at Kalakshetra, he gained significant stage experience through numerous performances and dance dramas. Following his graduation, Senthil Kumar embarked on a professional dance career, collaborating with various prominent dance companies in South India, including Arangham, Thejas, Anusham, Avigna, and Vipanchee. He also had the privilege of working alongside senior artists such as Sri Narasimhachari, Krishnaveni Lakshmanan, Lakshmi Vishvanathan, Madurai R. Muralidharan, and Vyjayanthimala Bali, performing a diverse repertoire that encompassed classical, contemporary, and folk dances. Before relocating to Europe in 2006, Senthil Kumar was actively involved in teaching Bharatanatyam and dance theory in Chennai, India, where he founded his own dance school, Nritya Abharana, and also taught at other well-known institutions. Since settling in Europe, he has continued to expand his artistic horizons, working with Western contemporary choreographers like Felix Ruckert and his company Betwixt & Between in Germany. He also performed at the "India - Guest in the Giant" exhibition in the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Austria. Currently based in Vienna and Burgenland, Austria, P. Senthil Kumar offers comprehensive dance training in Bharatanatyam for students of all ages and skill levels. His teaching extends to dance theory, choreography, nattuvangam, Carnatic vocal music, folk dances, Indian filmdance, and Silambam, a martial and folk art of Tamil Nadu.
