Padma Murali is a highly regarded Bharatanatyam exponent, guru, and choreographer, recognized as a significant figure in the classical dance fraternity. Born in Coimbatore, India, into a scholarly family, she began her journey in Bharatanatyam at the tender age of three or four. She received her training under the esteemed Kalaimamani Guru Sri. Palaniswamy Pillai, where she deeply imbibed the nuances of the Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. Throughout her career, Padma Murali has established herself as a successful performer, gracing numerous stages across India and internationally in countries such as the U.K., U.S.A, Germany, Austria, Italy, and France. She also represented India at the TNV Festivalen in Norway. In 1985, she founded the Padmalaya Dance Foundation, an institution dedicated to providing holistic dance education. As the Chairperson of the International Dance Alliance, Bangalore Chapter, she has played a crucial role in bringing diverse art forms to Bangalore audiences. Padma Murali is known for her dedication to teaching, having trained over 1000 students in cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Aurangabad, as well as students from Europe, the UK, and America. Her teaching methodology emphasizes a holistic approach, integrating practical, theoretical, and allied aspects of dance, including storytelling, yoga, theatrics, and language.
